To mark its start for the next 100 years and to convey the fun of sumo to young generations who think sumo is old-fashioned and uncool, we created “Sumo Girls”. Under the concept of “the more we know the rules, the more we can enjoy the sports”, the print shows 2 high school girls performing all of sumo’s 82 winning techniques. “Sumo Girls” changed the image of sumo from rough and old-fashioned to cool and sophisticated. Since the print illustrates the beauty and accuracy of sumo’s techniques to a high extent, it also became an unprecedentedly valuable material to learn sumo’s techniques.
