Photo by @noralorek | Rose Asha Sillah, who has been living in the Bidibidi refugee camp in Uganda since 2016, takes care of five children, including her newborn daughter, Nyoka. Because of the pandemic, the children have been homeschooled during the past two years. In the evening, they dance with other children or use phones to watch Nigerian movies. Over decades of war, South Sudanese have been forced back and forth between their home and Uganda. With more than 230,000 people, Bidibidi is one of the world’s largest refugee settlements. The COVID-19 pandemic made life more difficult for many of the families who’ve been living in Bidibidi. Schools closed, and markets could no longer import food from nearby cities. In late 2020, life slowly began to get back to normal.
