She's been living in Bidibidi since 2016, and when not working or cooking on her plot, Rose Asha leads a women’s group, works in the field for several NGOs, and helps families with loan applications and saving plans. In decades of war, South Sudanese have been forced back and forth between their home and Uganda. Bidibidi is, with its more than 270, 000 people, one of the world's largest refugee settlements.The COVID-19 pandemic made life more difficult for many families here. Schools were closed, and markets could no longer import food from nearby cities. In late 2020 life slowly began to return to normal.
