Climate justice is the future.” —PhD student and activist Josephine Becker (@treesnpeace)“I spent too much of my life thinking about individual lifestyle changes as a way to solve climate change. I no longer believe that our current system can solve the climate crisis when it is designed to uphold and profit off it. Now, I am concerned with the root causes of the climate crisis, in undoing them and building new.I focus on de-growth — as it combines the cutting off of processes that have for centuries fueled the climate crisis, while pursuing new creative ways to re-organize our societies that are not materialist-centered. I believe in revolution that is anti-capitalist, anti-racist, intersectionally feminist, disability-just and celebrates our differences for the strengths that they are.”Josephine co-hosts the YIKES Podcast together with Mikaela Loach (@mikaelaloach). “We lean into the uncomfortable and heart-breaking topics of the world, whilst also mobilize and skill-up each other to get active in hopefully changing the world(s) around us. We speak about climate justice, anti-racism, feminism, refugee rights, anti-oppression, activism and so much more.I believe in the power of community for change, and for justice-centered futures.
