Second Chances(第二次机会)美国50州中,加州拥有汽车驾照的人数最多,但其中只有45%的人是器官捐赠者。虽然美国在全球器官移植领域首屈一指,但总需求依然还有很大缺口,数据表明目前有114000美国人迫切等待器官捐赠挽救生命。为了扩大捐献量,加州公益组织Donate Life(生命捐献)与加州警署合作,发起了一项名为“Second Chances”(第二次机会)的倡议。这是一项具有法律效力的公益活动:当驾驶员发生了轻微交通违规,他将劝说司机成为器官捐献者以获得一次违规豁免。接受器官捐赠的驾驶员牌照上将显示粉红色的点以作标记,表明他们是捐赠者,并免去一次交通违规的罚款,还将获得一张感谢卡片。“Second Chances”一语双关:当你潜在地为他人提供了第二次生命的机会,自己也拥有了第二次机会。这位女士的驾驶执照显示她是一名器官捐赠者,所以她并只是获得了警告。该活动计划在美国全国捐赠生命月4月启动,并持续扩展到加拿大卡尔加里,为世界各地其他部门作典范,帮助实施类似的器官捐赠计划。为了让更多人加入活动,Donate Life还开通了官网在线登记渠道(SecondChancesDonor.org)帮助更多人重获新生。
