She went on to be the first undocumented person to obtain a master of education from Harvard and the first undocumented student to receive a Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University. Gloria is now a public health strategist. She is a DACA* recipient and an essential worker. As a senior grant writer, she has raised over $18 million for community-led public health programs. Gloria worked with Orange County to allocate three million dollars to address COVID-19 disparities impacting Latinx families. Gloria came to the U.S. at the age of eight from Guerrero, Mexico.*Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) protects some undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children from deportation. President Trump’s attempt to end DACA was blocked by the Supreme Court last year. President Biden signed an executive order to preserve the program.
