The eastern edge of both North and South America will see the eclipse only at moonset, just before sunrise, while it appears at moonrise in the evening in Asia and Oceania.During the total eclipse, the moon does not disappear and still faintly glows in red, as seen in these single-exposure photographs through a telephoto lens in January 2019. This is due to sunlight that refracts in our atmosphere and reaches the Earth shadow.
