If he dies, his species will become extinct with barely any hope of revival. They are CRITICALLY ENDANGERED. We need a source of funding for research into Artificial reproductive techniques, to enable him to breed through Southern White Rhino surrogates. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy's "Last Chance to Survive" breeding program aids in funding the research into Artificial Reproductive Techniques like IVF that are required to enable Sudan to breed through one of 7,000 Southern White Rhino surrogates and give his species a chance at survival. The Idea We chose to look at the bright side of the rhino's grim situation. Considering the fact that he has 7,000 females ready to carry his baby and he is literally "the last of his kind", living on a picturesque 90,000-acre ranch under the protection of his personal team of military trained bodyguards-- we decided to put his profile on Tinder and dub him "The World’s Most Eligible Bachelor.” Tinder users just had to swipe right to match with him and be be redirected to Ol Pejeta Conservancy's site where they could donate to his cause. What is unique and innovative about the idea or format? Sudan is the last Northern White Rhino in the world and the last chance for his breed to remain - hence our idea to position him as the Most Eligible Bachelor in the world. Note there are Southern White Rhinos but there are some fundamental differences between the 2 breeds. The objectives were to raise awareness and funds. We need $9M for research / in vitro which has never been done before with Rhinos. There is a worldwide team working on this.
