So when a family from Chile reached out to him and his partner Wayne for a three-week stay in their Phoenix condo, they were more than ready to share their space. But the sharing became so much more when Bart and Wayne learned that, upon their guests' checking in, the family was in town looking for information about the nearby hospital. They’d come to the U.S. so their 18-year-old daughter could undergo surgery. Without hesitation, Bart and Wayne became so much more than hosts. They fed the family so they could focus on their daughter. They let them extend their stay for free while their recovering daughter went through physical therapy. They became a part of the extended family, making sure the young girl could feel safe and at home while healing.Coincidentally, Bart and Wayne had planned a trip to Chile the same time many of the family members were returning back home from the surgery. Their Chilean guests insisted on returning the favor by inviting Bart and Wayne into their homes.
