案例简介：Photos by @iantehphotography | More than 1,000 roadways worldwide honor the great American civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., reflecting his enduring impact across cultures. Once I photographed a boulevard in a well-to-do, leafy neighborhood of Kolkata, India, that was known as Wood Street before being renamed Dr. Martin Luther King Sarani in 1986. I explored the activities of the street's inhabitants and passersby, shop owners and stallholders, as they went about their lives.I watched a street vendor selling a spiced drink made from sattu flour to people on their way to work in the dappled morning light. I peeked into quiet gateways revealing homes with affluent exteriors, a parked BMW in the driveway. A mustached traffic policeman directed traffic at a busy crossroads. In the afternoon, a schoolgirl skipped along before getting into a yellow cab to wait for her mother. Then a bus trundled by with faces of men looking curiously at me. For a different perspective, I jumped into a taxi and rode down MLK Sarani. Every day I would see the shutters of a pharmacy open to cater—deep into the evening—to long lines of patients from a nearby hospital. In this apparent chaos, routines as a whole somehow felt like an orchestrated ritual, a symphony of the everyday.In a moving speech, famous for its recurring phrase "I have a dream," King imagined a future where "little Black boys and Black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."Follow me @iantehphotography to see more images and stories from around the world. #MLK #MartinLutherKing #India #Kolkata
