In celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, he reflects on his memories growing up in Indonesia and how his family has influenced his passions. “As a Chinese-Indonesian family migrating to Australia in 1998, my parents moved away from the familiarity of their home, friends and family to raise my sisters and I here in Australia with the hope of providing us with more opportunities and life experiences. I’m so thankful for all the life lessons they’ve instilled in me and for making me who I am today. I will never forget where I came from and Indonesia will always be a part of me!My grandfather taught me how to shoot my first basketball at my local court in Jakarta. I found out after he passed that he was actually a basketball coach for one of Indonesia’s best basketball clubs and he also loved photography too (he even had his own dark room at his house) – both big passions of mine today!
