With the launch of Google's Pixel 4 phone, agency Swift was tasked with generating breakthrough ideas to showcase the tech of the new phone, including one standout feature called motion sense - a technology that creates a radar bubble around the phone to capture hand movements and gestures.To highlight this, the team pitched the idea of creating a DJ rig capable of building a song using only the wave of a hand. The agency worked with partners Deep Local to create an instrument built with eight Pixel 4 phones and millions of tiny LED lights. each device has a different sample loaded to it - bass, kicks, strings etc – and as the DJ swipes over, they can build a track in real time.
