A business owner for over 25 years, Tonnie thought he had seen everything one can imagine, until the pandemic hit. “As far as I was concerned this was another moment to show my relentlessness,” said Tonnie. “Takeout would now be our new norm.”Tonnie received support through the Coalition to Back Black Businesses, a four-year grant program established by American Express to help Black-owned small businesses recover from the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 . “The grant we received truly helped us pay our rent and keep our business running at a time when we needed it most and now I’m hopeful for the future,” said Tonnie.Whether it’s #TakeoutTuesday or any other day of the week, #ShopSmall and support small businesses like Tonnie’s Minis.
