案例简介：Photo by @amivitale / On International Women's Day I'd like to share the story of an extraordinary young woman, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim (in red), who has been a powerful catalyst for Indigenous communities around the world. At the age of 15, she founded the Association of Indigenous Peul Women and Peoples of Chad, an organization focused on rights and environmental protection. Since then, she has worked on behalf of Indigenous peoples, women, and the environment and created profound awareness both in her community and at the highest levels of government.In this photo, she collects water with women from the village of Gouwa, about 100 miles (161 kilometers) north of N'Djamena, the capital of Chad. Hindou is a National Geographic explorer who recently addressed the delegates at COP25. She was also named the 2019 Pritzker Environmental Genius by @uclaioes, an award I'm proud to have nominated her for. "For centuries, indigenous peoples have protected the environment, which provides them food, medicine, and so much more," Hindou says.
