Not unlike the plagues described in the Old Testament, the coronavirus has decimated everything in its path, reminding us how small and fragile we are, and what an end of civilization might look like. Inspired by these parallels, I visited some of the ancient biblical sites in Jordan, searching for allegories that could help make sense of the anxious times we are all living through.
