You can see burned-out cars at the park headquarters as our drone pans up to the crown, almost 300 feet (100 meters) off the ground. We are documenting the aftermath of the fire with the dedicated people @CAStateParks. There are signs of life in this scorched tree, but the forest surrounding it will look different in our lifetime and the park’s infrastructure will take years torebuild. Just days ago the first fire of the 2021 season erupted, again in Big Basin. This may become another long, hot summer.
