With its ice cover, we might think of its landscape as never-changing, but it is the land of constant change and movement. Every time I travel to the Arctic, I feel like I'm photographing a landscape that we may never see the same way again. According to new research, the Arctic Ocean's summer sea ice could disappear by 2035. I feel a responsibility to capture this moment of our evolving natural history, and in doing so also raise awareness of this fragile environment. Do my images have an impact? I don't know, but I hope that I can and will contribute to positive change with my work. This place is dependent on our actions.
