“# ThisWeekOnInstagramPhoto by @ browngirl_green

案例简介:“I want to change the image of what it means to be an environmentalist in the 21st century,” says 24-year-old Kristy Drutman. She’s a digital media strategist and the founder of Brown Girl Green (@browngirl_green).“I wanted to create a media platform that combined both my identity as a Jewish, Filipina-American environmentalist with my desire to make climate media that is entertaining, humorous and culturally nuanced,” says Kristy, who started Brown Girl Green during her final semester at the University of California, Berkeley.“I was frustrated with the lack of diversity and inclusion in the environmental field and also frustrated with the lack of mainstream media coverage of the climate crisis. Through my content, I have been able to create a sense of community for minorities who want to establish a reconnection with nature, to get engaged in environmental advocacy and want to learn how to navigate a predominately white field. The most important issues for me are the impacts of resource extraction and pollution on poor communities of color. I find that the injustices against Indigenous peoples worldwide, the original stewards and protectors of our land, is something that keeps me awake at night.I want to remind people that in the process of building a healthy, clean world, it can’t be at the expense of brown and black bodies.I feel a deep responsibility, as a member of the Filipino diaspora, to continue using my platform and privilege to bridge the gaps around what our politicians and leaders are missing about climate and to continue to encourage people of all ages to demand immediate action before it’s too late.”#ThisWeekOnInstagramPhoto by @browngirl_green
