SOLIDARY TUTORIALS Oxfam Intermón is creating awareness about the lack of access to drinking water with its “Solidary Tutorials”, a digital content plan created by Tiempo BBDO. Lack of access to drinking water kills more children than war, malaria, AIDS and traffic accidents together. However, this is something that hardly interests anybody on the Internet. “How to” videos continue to be among the most sought after contents on the Internet. With this learning Tiempo BBDO decided to create a series of interactive video tutorials lasting more than three hours, in which users can experience their day-to-day life. To show us how Mafe, a typical Senegalese dish, is made, our protagonists had to go out halfway through the preparation for drinking water because there wasn’t any in their village. During the almost 3 hours that it took the protagonists to go for water, viewers of the video can either skip these three hours and see the final recipe or change the situation by sending a donation or a signature as a way to put pressure on the government. As well as recipes, in the campaign, viewers can also learn how to play Wari, a typical game from Burkina Faso. In this case, the camera had to wait while the girls playing the game did their daily chores: helping their mothers by going for drinking water, a task that also takes more than three hours as they had to go and collect the water from outside the village. The objective from Oxfam Intermon was multiple: to create awareness among people about the problems that Oxfam Intermón tries to deal with, to collect signatures as a way of putting pressure on the government, to raise funds and also to create content that is really useful for our target audience. “Solidary Tutorials” was filmed over several days in Burkina Faso and Senegal. The content plan has audiovisual items of more than three hours with 4.41", 4.02", 20”, 10” and 6” versions as well as downloadable e-books.
