案例简介:Photo by @nataliekeyssar | Desiree Acevedo, center, puts her horse through a “giro,” or turn, with the rest of her rodeo team during practice on an evening in July, a few days before a competition. The escaramuza charra is the only women's event in the charrería, the Mexican rodeo. Teams of eight riders perform complex synchronized choreography while riding sidesaddle in adelitas outfits, inspired by the garb of the women who fought in the Mexican Revolution. The sport is now widely practiced among Chicano communities across the U.S., where women can celebrate their horsemanship and their heritage and compete for a chance to participate in finals in Mexico.
