案例简介：Caught in a cosmic bad romance 💥 A cataclysmic cosmic collision between two star-crossed galaxies takes the stage in this image captured by @NASAHubble. Located 275 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus (the Whale), the pair of galaxies tango to the final stages of merging, where astronomers expect a powerful inflow of gas that will ignite an extraordinary rate of star formation, resulting in a compact starburst galaxy. Eight filters spanning infrared to ultraviolet wavelengths combined with data from the Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 bring out the intricate details of the galaxy pair. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the complex love story of the two galaxies, which were first captured by the Hubble in 2008 using only optical and infrared wavelength filters. We are looking forward to the observations in new detail expected from @NASAWebb which will shed more light into the spectacular process of extreme star formation in unique environments like these.
