案例简介:When opposites attract 🔥 Combining light from across the visible and infrared spectrums, Spitzer and @NASAHubble space telescopes show two distant galaxies pulling together due to a mutual gravitational attraction. The larger, more colorful galaxy is filled with hot, newly-formed stars. The bluish filaments demonstrate how it responds to the gravitational tugs of its neighbor. The egg-shaped galaxy with the greenish glow reveals a lost reservoir of gas and dust from which new stars formed long ago. Eventually these two galaxies will merge with stars, gas, and dust intermingling. Our @NASAWebb space telescope, targeted to launch Dec. 18, will be able to see all of these wavelengths of light, but with dramatically better clarity.What do these galaxies look like to you?(The blue streak at the top of the image is an unrelated background galaxy.)
