Disney’s novel way of counting down to Christmas with 12 delectable episodes from each of its popular TV series came our way, and like excited 5 year olds, we couldn’t contain our excitement. Production involved an opening scene where three little ones discover a ‘magical’ present filled with teasers of their favourite shows. How do you bribe three bouncing, adorable children to act their parts out for the camera? Sweets? Wrong... Our 5-year old male lead was a vegetarian, so that plan was quickly shelved. Instead, we discovered the children’s manic obsession for blue tack, demonstrated by little balls of it rolling in between their tiny fingers. So began the ‘blue tack’ race, where good takes resulted in additional balls of blue tack pinned to a board beside each child’s name. Dare we say that was the only system that got us through the day, to the extent that we even wrapped ahead of schedule, a very rare event when working with children. Jokes aside, the kids were spot-on with expressions where it counted, and we left absolutely satisfied with the efficiency and quality at which everything was accomplished.
