This was the third presidential inauguration I've covered in my career, and it was so dramatically different it's hard to describe in words. Seeing our nation's capitol on lockdown—having worked in more than 100 countries where I witnessed civil unrest and conflict—brought me to tears multiple times. Seeing thousands of National Guard troops around the U.S. Capitol and National Mall moved me to anger too—that we were brought so close to the brink. Thankfully the day transpired in peace, and I had conversations that day that reminded me of our resilience.⠀Here, Isabel Sanchez, with the Capitol in the background, came to celebrate the election of President Joseph Biden.
