As it melts, the monks use the water to sustain a grove of 5,000 willow and poplar trees they planted five years ago, after their first stupa was made. “It was a sudden project a few years ago, so we had to experiment a lot,” Rigzen says. “A lot of people talk about global warming, but there is very little action.
