Zahra Mahmoud and her family fled the war in their native Syria, taking refuge in Jordan in 2015.Every year, I have visited them, and through the years I've seen Zahra grow in front of my eyes and lens. February was the last time I'd seen her in person. In April, I connected to her family through a video call, and most recently, I spoke on the phone with them. They are keeping safe and healthy. Every year around this time, I visit the family. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I couldn’t be there. For more photos and videos of the refugee crisis, follow me @mmuheisen @mmuheisenpublic.
