# ShowUsYourProof
Photo by @BrianSkerry // Sponsored by @LifeProof // A blue shark swims off the coast of New England with plastic rope around its body. Polypropylene line like this is commonly used in commercial fishing. The line was tight around the shark, just behind the animal’s gills, and was cutting into its body. In time, this would likely prove fatal. But in this case, a diver removed the line, freeing the shark. Each year approximately 18 billion pounds of plastic end up in the Earth’s oceans. It is deadly for marine life and harmful to humans. When I began diving more than four decades ago, I rarely saw plastic in the sea. Today I see it on nearly every dive. // The seas are awash in plastic pollution. To help clean up, @LifeProof designed WĀKE, a phone case made from over 85 percent ocean-based recycled plastic. It saves your phone. And our planet. #ShowUsYourProof
