With each passing year, wildfires continue to be a growing problem, even affecting places in the Arctic. As the heat index rises and drought becomes more prevalent, forests are becoming infested with beetles. In the past, these native beetles were partially killed off during normal winter cold snaps. With cold snaps becoming fewer and farther between, the beetles have proliferated, killing off trees and leaving behind dry, skeletal forests that act as tinder boxes. With no solution in sight, this leaves a question mark over what the future may bring.
