Photo by @kaigner / This is the scene on any given day in Ranthambore National Park, in India. Drivers—hoping for big tips—aggressively race along the roads, jockeying for space while chasing tigers. We all want to see them; we all want to be close and get a good shot. You see only one direction here; behind me are another 10 trucks. If we respect the idea that the "national park" is home to animals, at what point is it our responsibility as tourists and as humans to help create a tourism system that respects the wildlife and, most important, abide by it ourselves? Better rules can be made—and actively enforced. We can make better choices as to where we go to see wildlife, and who we use to show us these places. This scene plays out in many national parks around the world. If you love animals, and you’ve thought about "getting close" to wildlife, consider how it might affect the animal. Would you want to be that tiger, whose path is blocked by twenty vehicles and guides who are yelling at each other? Our mentality needs to change—and it starts with us as individuals. #ranthambore #tigers #tourism #wildlifephotography
