The dramatic fire activity was seen during a day when humidity was low and winds were high, factors that can fuel a fire. According to @calfire and the @u.s.forestservice, the Caldor fire started on August 14, burning roughly 221,000 acres (90,000 ha) before it was 100% contained in late October. With increasing drought across the state of California, fires are more intense and burn for longer periods of time.
