Bluebirds seriously declined in many areas with the loss of habitat and nesting sites, but in recent years they've been increasing, helped by birdhouses in some cases. But as a wildlife photographer, I was especially excited this spring to find this bluebird nesting in a natural cavity made by a woodpecker, a more “traditional” home for this species.
